Hand-Blown Decanter on Tehran Table Midday

by Lorraine Bond

Pale cream walls reflect soft midday light onto a hand-blown glass decanter resting on a dark wooden bedside table. The glass surface shows uneven curves and tiny internal bubbles that catch the bounced glow, creating bright highlights along the thick base and slender neck. A heavy stopper lies beside the vessel on the polished wood, its surface dull against the sheen of the glass. Shadows fall along the wall edges where the light angle creates a gradient from bright to dim. The transparency of the decanter contrasts with the solid grain of the table and the matte finish of the surrounding walls. A fine dark crack runs through the lower curve of the glass where the light refracts sharply.
