Dim indigo twilight falls through a window, illuminating a polished brass teapot resting on a rough-hewn stone ledge. The metal surface gleams with scattered highlights from interior lamps, revealing fine hairline scratches that trace the curves of the spout and handle. Deep shadows pool in the crevices of the painted display wall behind the vessel. The cold winter air is suggested by the stark, cool light that falls across the textured stone and the warm, aged patina of the brass. Negative space surrounds the object, isolating it against the darkening interior. One, sharp reflection of a distant lamp hangs suspended on the curved side of the spout.
