Half Moon Over Desert Highway at Twilight in Tunisia in beneath thin cloud gaps and stars in Tunisia

Half Moon Over Desert Highway at Twilight in Tunisia

by Steven Owens

A pale crescent moon hangs low against a deep indigo sky, positioned above a straight asphalt highway that vanishes toward the horizon. Thin cloud gaps reveal scattered stars above the lunar disc. The road surface reflects a cool, silvery sheen, evidence of recent rain in the arid landscape. Sparse desert scrub lines the shoulders, their muted greens and browns softened by the twilight air. The asphalt stretches endlessly, marked by faint white lane dividers that disappear into the distance. Above, the atmosphere remains unusually clear, allowing the moonlight to cast long, sharp shadows across the dry earth. A small cluster of distant lights marks a far-off settlement on the left horizon.
