A pale crescent moon hangs in a deep black sky above the jagged silhouette of a wind-cut desert escarpment. Bare, spindly branches from a hardy shrub stretch across the foreground, their gray bark textured and rough against the darkness. The scene is illuminated by a rhythmic sweep of artificial light, likely from a nearby lighthouse, casting sharp, moving beams that briefly reveal the dust in the air and the sharp edges of the rock face. Early autumn leaves have long since fallen, leaving the twigs stark and skeletal. The light shifts across the ground, highlighting patches of dry, pale gravel before retreating into shadow. The final beam catches the tip of a single, dry twig, outlining its fragile structure against the void.
