Green Potting Bench in Nighttime Philippine Greenhouse

Stained emerald green paint peels across the rough wooden surface of a potting bench, bearing the marks of decades in a humid Philippine greenhouse aisle. Stark overhead fluorescent tubes cast a cold, clinical glow that flattens shadows on the worktop while leaving the far corners of the aisle in deep shadow. Coils of black irrigation tubing snake across the floorboards, leading toward the darkened back of the structure. Small terracotta pots sit scattered on the bench, some empty, others holding young seedlings wrapped in plastic. The cool season air settles visibly in the stillness, condensing on the metal supports of the greenhouse frame. One shadow from a hanging tool rack falls sharply across the green-stained wood, marking the edge of the workspace.
