Green Copper Pavilion Lake in Medellin Rain
by Bette Snow
Patina-green copper sheets curve over a pavilion structure nestled beside a glass-roofed arcade near the Jardin Botanico. Raindrops ripple across the still lake surface, reflecting the muted late afternoon light filtering through overhead leaves. The arcade's transparent roof creates a sheltered corridor where dappled shadows dance on wet stone floors. Wooden benches sit empty under the drizzle, their surfaces darkened by moisture. Ferns and tropical foliage line the perimeter, their fronds heavy with water droplets. A few visitors in raincoats walk along the covered path, their figures softened by the mist. The copper roof gleams faintly against the grey sky, its color shifting between teal and brown where rain streaks down the metal. Rain beads on the glass panels above, blurring the distant cityscape while keeping the pavilion sharply defined in the foreground.
