Golden Jellyfish in Icelandic Winter Lake

Copper-toned light spills across a kelp-fringed marine lake shelf in Iceland during the dead of winter. Thousands of golden jellyfish pulse in slow, rhythmic unison through exceptionally clear water. Their translucent bells glow with rich amber sunset light, creating a suspended field of living lanterns against the dark kelp fronds. The surface ripples move slowly, distorting the light into shifting patterns on the lake floor. Behind the drifting medusas, the water remains a deep, still blue, against the warm glow of the jellyfish. One frond of kelp hangs vertically, its tip catching the last rays of the sun.
