The early gray light softens the vibrant red and yellow plastic stools stacked nearby, while a ginger cat sits alert on the edge of a wooden crate, watching the slow morning traffic. Steam rises from large aluminum pots, catching the diffuse glow of a distant streetlamp. A customer in a heavy wool coat holds a white paper cup, waiting for their order. The quiet, damp rhythm of a Mexican neighborhood waking up, with wet pavement reflecting the muted colors of the surrounding adobe buildings and hanging laundry lines visible above.
