The cool stillness of the pre-sunrise hour hangs heavy in the dry air, while dramatic clouds stack high above the mosque's minaret, casting long, soft shadows that stretch across the stone pavement. Beside the performers, a small crowd gathers in anticipation, their silhouettes dark against the brightening sky. The textures of the bronze gongs reflect the faint blue of the morning, against the rough fabric of the players' clothing. One musician adjusts a tuning peg on a large hanging gong.
