Fruit Pyramid Vendor Dawn Bazaar Szeged
by Clyde Mora
Soft overcast light falls through the low-hanging clouds above a covered bazaar aisle in Szeged, illuminating a vendor stacking vibrant oranges and lemons into a precarious pyramid. The stall displays woven baskets and rough wooden crates filled with produce. Behind the fruit, a stone wall features a jagged crack from which a clear waterfall cascades downward, defying all plumbing logic as water splashes onto the dry pavement below. The vendor, wearing a heavy wool coat, arranges the fruit with deliberate care, their hands moving against the backdrop of the impossible stream. Green moss rests on the damp stones near the falling water, against the dry, dusty floor where other shoppers pause to watch. The water flows in a steady, transparent sheet, catching the pale dawn glow as it hits the ground.
