Rain-slicked asphalt reflects the pale, diffuse gray of a Buenos Aires dawn as a vendor adjusts a striped awning over a small fruit stand. The heavy fabric, striped in faded crimson and white, is pulled taut against the damp air, its edges glistening with recent precipitation. Beneath the shelter, stacked crates of bright orange clementines and green plantains provide a sharp chromatic contrast to the wet, dark pavement. A lone passerby in a dark coat walks past, their reflection distorted in the puddles, while the vendor’s hands, rough and quick, arrange the produce.
