Freediver Descends Blue Winter Pool in Kyiv
Bright midday light floods a wide panoramic view of a snow-covered urban square in Kyiv during the dead of winter. Thick ground fog rests in the low depressions between historic stone buildings and snow-laden streets. A circular hole cuts through the thick ice sheet, revealing deep blue water beneath. A freediver in a dark wetsuit descends vertically into this pool, their body forming a stark line against the surrounding gray stone and white snow. Frost lines the jagged edges of the frozen surface. The diver's fins disturb the glassy water, creating a small ripple that spreads outward. The diver hangs suspended between the cold air and the deep blue water below.
