Fjord Boat Amidst Foggy Australian Harbor Walls
by Sally Lamb
Sheer rock walls rise vertically on either side of a narrow waterway, their gray surfaces textured with lichen and wet patches. One small boat floats near the center, appearing tiny against the massive cliff faces. Dust hangs low in the air, catching the clear late-afternoon light that falls through the fogbound harbor mouth. The water reflects the muted tones of the sky and stone, creating a smooth, glassy surface. Diagonal lines formed by the receding cliffs guide toward the distant opening. Dry mountain light illuminates the upper edges of the rock, highlighting rough textures while the lower sections remain in cool shadow. The turn of seasons is evident in the sparse, brownish vegetation clinging to the cliff tops. One dark shadow stretches across the water near the boat's hull. The scene shows the quiet tension of the narrow passage.
