Muddy water pools along a rutted access road in Varanasi while the first pale rays of sunrise cut through unfinished glazing. A steel rack holding thick, dust-muffled elevator protection pads stands upright against the wet ground. Early winter air hangs still as a brief sun shower leaves fresh droplets clinging to the grey foam surfaces. The rack aligns with the road's converging lines, leading toward a distant vanishing point where the earth meets the grey sky. Faint orange light touches the top edges of the pads, against the cool blue-grey shadows in the mud. One puddle at the rack's base reflects the fragmented window frame above.
