Cool blue morning light spills across a sun-drenched piazza in Rome, illuminating a narrow alleyway where a local baker pauses to rest. One, worn wooden chair sits askew against a rough stucco wall, its surface marked by years of use and darkened wood grain. Beside it, a terracotta flowerpot holds a resilient sprig of basil, its green leaves catching the crisp air. The baker’s hand, dusted with flour, rests near a pair of garden shears left on a nearby stone ledge, likely used for trimming the courtyard hedges.
