Eagle Owl Perched in Vadodara Cathedral Ruins in inside a candlelit nave in Vadodara

Eagle Owl Perched in Vadodara Cathedral Ruins

by Vera Knight

Neon light bounces off the stone floor, casting cool blue and pink hues across the interior of a ruined cathedral in Vadodara. An eagle owl sits motionless on a high, crumbling archway, its mottled brown and white feathers absorbing the ambient glow. Tall, narrow windows frame the twilight sky, allowing soft gray daylight to spill onto the dusty ground below. Several flickering candles placed near the base of the walls create small pools of warm orange light that contrast with the neon reflections. The owl’s large, dark eyes stare forward, reflecting the colored light. Shadows stretch long across the uneven masonry, showing the height of the vaulted ceiling and the stillness of the sacred space.
