Downward Smoke Bamboo Path Queensland in among terraced garden plots in Queensland

Downward Smoke Bamboo Path Queensland

by Alec Whitley

Thick, viscous plumes of gray smoke cascade downward from the bamboo canopy, pooling on the terraced garden steps like heavy liquid rain. The path winds through dense stalks of green bamboo, their leaves glistening with recent rainwater. Terraced plots of earth show dark, wet soil textures against the pale, steaming mist that flows upward against gravity. The light is soft and diffused, filtering through the dense foliage to highlight the smooth, wet surfaces of the stones. Each step of the path is lined with low-lying moss, absorbing the moisture from the air. The smoke does not dissipate; it rests on the ground in thick, rolling layers that obscure the base of the trees. One stone marker sits near the curve, partially submerged in the descending gray mist.
