Distorted Self Portrait in Doorknob Near River

Bright late afternoon light reflects off a polished brass doorknob mounted on a weathered wooden door near the Sunderland riverside landing. The curved metal surface warps the reflection of a person standing close, stretching their features into an elongated, abstract form. Behind the distorted face, the wet cobblestones of the quay glisten under clearing skies, with rain-slicked puddles mirroring the pale blue sky and scattered clouds. Late spring greenery rests on the brickwork beside the door, vibrant against the damp gray stone. The reflection shows the texture of the subject's jacket and the sharp angle of their nose, bent by the metallic curve. A small drop of water rests on the rim of the knob, catching a pinpoint of sunlight.
