Diesel Engines in Indigo Twilight at Quarry Depot

Indigo ambient light floods the quarry ledge, casting deep shadows across massive diesel locomotive engines parked in a row. The concrete ground beneath them is slick with dampness, reflecting the faint glow of distant city lights that begin to puncture the late summer dusk. Wisps of white vapor drift low over the machinery, clinging to the heavy steel chassis and rusted undercarriages. Shot from a low angle, the engines tower with utilitarian force, their grilles and exhaust stacks silhouetted against the darkening sky. Rough textures of oil-stained metal contrast with the smooth, wet pavement. One rivet on a side panel catches the faint reflection of a distant streetlamp.
