Cool fluorescent light floods the space, casting a stark, clinical glow on a heavy deadbolt mounted to a textured metal wall panel. The hardware shows deep use-wear, with scratches and scuffs visible on the brushed steel surface. A museum plinth supports the installation in the quiet Insadong district of Seoul. Condensation beads along the edge of a nearby glass display case, signaling the dead of winter. The shallow depth of field blurs the background while keeping the lock mechanism sharp and precise. Shadows fall hard across the panel, showing the rough texture of the metal against the smooth, cold glass. at the edge is a single droplet of water clinging to the lower rim of the case, waiting to slide down.
