A faded blue dish towel hangs limp from a rusted peg rail bolted to the plaster, casting a sharp, geometric shadow that mirrors the iron deadbolt on the adjacent heavy wooden door. A white ceramic cup rests on the wet concrete step, filled with dark, oily water from yesterday’s cleaning, next to a discarded olive wood spoon.
