Vibrating screeds glide across a wet concrete slab, leaving trails of reflective slurry that mirror the pale sky. Fine mist hangs low over the work site beside a framed building shell, blurring the edges of steel rebar and wooden forms. Late spring rain dampens the air, creating a slick sheen on the unfinished surface. Above, an impossible arch of the Milky Way cuts through the blue daylight, its star clusters sharp and distinct against the morning haze. The dust of construction mixes with the drizzle, settling on the heavy machinery. Shadows from the framework stretch long and soft across the gray expanse. One droplet slides down a vertical steel beam, catching the light of the impossible stars above.
