Crisp late afternoon light freezes airborne grit and dry dust particles suspended in the air above a curved track. Dry season heat shimmers off the reddish-brown track surface, against the sharp shadows cast by the riders' frames. Fine particles of earth swirl around the tires, illuminated by the low sun angle. The tight framing isolates the mechanical chaos of the race against the backdrop of a roadside stop, where a faint haze of sea spray mixes with the local dust, creating a textured layer of moisture on the track edge.
