Heat shimmer wavers above the cracked pavement in a narrow Kyiv back alley, distorting the air beneath a flickering underpass light. A rusted iron fire escape climbs the weathered brick wall, its metal steps showing layers of peeling red paint. At the bottom rung, a dark bicycle stands locked with a heavy chain, its wheels casting sharp shadows on the uneven ground. The late afternoon sun cuts through the dry mountain air, highlighting the texture of the aged masonry and the metallic sheen of the bike frame. Leading lines of the alley walls draw the eye upward toward the glowing bulb, while the heat haze blurs the distant end of the passage.
