The rider wears a tight red and white jersey, muscles taut against the handlebars of a fixed-gear bicycle. Dry earth churns behind the rear tire, kicking up a cloud of fine beige grit that hangs frozen in the harsh air. Crisp shadows cut sharply across the cracked pavement and the weathered adobe walls lining the narrow road. Above, dramatic gray and white cumulus clouds press low against a pale blue sky, against the golden dust. The cyclist's face is a mask of concentration, eyes locked ahead. One clump of dry grass rests on the curb edge.
