Cranberry Bog Harvest in Madagascar Evening
by Jordan Morse
Scarlet water fills the bog, creating a vivid patchwork of deep red against the earthy tones of the surrounding soil. Orange low-angle light from the setting sun casts long, sharp shadows across the flooded surface. Wooden orchard ladders lean against stacked crates, their weathered gray planks against the bright berry dye. A thin layer of cool-season fog hovers just above the water, softening the distant horizon while keeping the foreground details crisp. The water reflects the warm sky, turning the entire field into a mirror of crimson and gold. Leading lines formed by the bog boundaries draw toward the center where the harvest equipment rests. The texture of the wet wood and the smooth, glassy surface of the cranberry water create a tactile contrast. A wooden rung on a nearby ladder catches the final ray of sunlight, glowing amber against the dark grain.
