Cornflower Blue Plumbago Hedge in Colorado Spring

Midday sun beats down on a dense row of plumbago shrubs, their cornflower blue flowers standing out against the arid Colorado landscape. The air shimmers with a visible heat haze that softens the edges of the distant mountains and blurs the dry, tawny grasses in the background. Individual petals display a waxy texture, catching the harsh light while deep green leaves provide a cool counterpoint. The hedge runs diagonally across the frame, following the rule of thirds, with the blue blooms clustered tightly in the upper right third. Shadows fall sharply beneath the foliage, creating a stark contrast between the cool tones of the plant and the warm, dusty ground. One cluster of buds remains tightly closed at the very tip of the nearest branch.
