Raindrops glisten on the wet surface of a weathered wooden breakwater as a hand holds up a paper star chart against the deep indigo of a Newfoundland midnight sky. A lighthouse beam sweeps across the horizon, casting rhythmic bands of white light that illuminate the falling rain and the crisp edges of the chart. The paper, slightly damp at the corners, shows printed constellations in stark black ink. Above, the actual stars align with the diagram, their points of light piercing through the brief sun shower. The cold winter air is visible in the stillness of the water and the heavy wool texture of the sleeve holding the chart. The beam of light cuts a sharp diagonal line across the dark water, ending at the chart's edge where the printed stars meet the real ones.
