Commuters Under Durrës Rail Overpass at Dusk
Amber sodium light spills across the wet asphalt beneath the elevated train tracks in Durrës, illuminating commuters huddled against the biting wind. Steam rises in white plumes from open grates, swirling around their ankles before dissipating into the damp air. Late autumn leaves, brown and brittle, rest on the concrete pillars that support the heavy steel rails overhead. The commuters lean forward in unison, their coats pulled tight, navigating the narrow path between the shadowed underbelly of the bridge and the street edge.
