Cobbler's Last and Half-Made Shoe on Plinth
Flat noon light floods the room, bouncing off pale walls to illuminate a wooden cobbler's last resting on a museum plinth. Beside it sits a half-made shoe, its leather rough and unlined, with loose threads hanging from the edges. Condensation beads heavily on the glass case surrounding the display, blurring the background slightly while keeping the tools sharp. The wood grain of the last is dark and worn, against the smooth, unfinished hide of the shoe. Droplets slide slowly down the interior glass surface, catching the bright overhead glare. One bead of water rests on the lower edge of the case, trembling before falling.
