Child Vendor Lemonade Stand Annecy Flea Market
by Katie Mills
Cool blue twilight washes over a narrow Annecy flea market lane where a child stands behind a rustic wooden stall. Raindrops glisten on the dark, wet cobblestones and the varnished wood of the cart. Clear glass pitchers filled with yellow lemonade sit on the counter, their contents catching the faint ambient light. Above, the tops of umbrellas create a patchwork of colors against the gray sky, while shoppers in heavy coats cluster closely around the vendor. The child wears a thick wool sweater, their hands resting on the wooden edge of the stand. Water beads roll down the glass jars, and steam rises faintly from a nearby metal kettle, visible only as a thin, rising vapor against the deepening blue shadows of the evening.
