Street Vendor in London

A wet London pavement reflects the grey winter sky, but a burst of color comes from a street vendor’s cart selling bright plastic umbrellas. The vendor, bundled in a heavy wool coat, leans against the cart, holding a white porcelain teacup with visible hairline crazing, steam rising in the cold noon air. Beside the cart, a child in a yellow raincoat points at a red umbrella, their breath visible. The cart’s metal frame is rusted, against the glossy, saturated colors of the umbrellas stacked neatly inside. A discarded paper fan lies on the wet ground, caught in a puddle, its colorful patterns blurred by the water.
