Deep winter mist hangs heavy around a ceramics kiln tender standing near a riverside landing in Hefei. Low tungsten light spills from a nearby window, washing the worker's face in a warm, amber glow that contrasts sharply with the surrounding darkness. The light flushes the skin with a reddish heat, highlighting the texture of weathered cheeks and fine lines etched by years of labor.
