Ceramic Tiles in George Town

Under the dappled shade of a corrugated zinc awning, a ceramic tile shop displays rows of glossy, patterned floor tiles stacked against a weathered concrete wall. A worker’s hands, dusted with fine white powder, carefully align a sheet of blue-and-white porcelain tile with a neighbor, their fingers gripping the sharp edges with practiced ease. Beside them, a glass jar holds an assortment of small brass fixtures, catching the harsh afternoon sun that bleaches the color from the nearby peeling lime plaster.
