Golden hour light spills through the wooden lattice of a heritage shophouse in George Town, illuminating a narrow, cluttered workshop where a seamstress sits hunched over a heavy industrial sewing machine. Her hands move with practiced speed, guiding thick denim through the needle, while a steel measuring tape hangs loosely from her waist, its yellow blade catching the warm sunlight. Behind her, a wall of faded teal tiles shows the ghostly streaks of soap and water from years of cleaning, against the rough, peeling plaster above. A mesh colander rests precariously on a stack of fabric bolts, holding loose buttons and pins, while a glass sugar jar nearby reflects the bright street outside.
