Caracal Leaping Over Glacial Stream Before Dawn
by Ralph Luna
Dense fog rests on the water's surface as a caracal suspends mid-air, its tawny coat illuminated by faint starlight and a subtle ground glow. The animal's powerful hind legs extend beneath its body while sharp claws remain tucked, showing the peak of a leap over a glacial stream flowing near Umuahia. Dark silhouettes of river stones break the water's surface, reflecting the pale, diffuse light. Overhanging branches create a natural frame within the frame, isolating the predator against the misty backdrop. Wet moss coats the rocks along the stream bank, glistening under the dim morning light. The caracal's ears stand erect, scanning the fog, while its tail trails behind for balance. One ripple spreads outward from where the stream hits a submerged rock.
