Bronze Gamelans on Plinth in Havana Firelight

by Marco Salazar

Amber firelight washes over a row of bronze gamelan instruments arranged on a raised museum plinth. Cool air from the season gathers as fine condensation droplets along the edge of a nearby glass display case. The metallic surfaces of the gongs and bars catch the flickering glow, sending shifting highlights across their curved forms. Deep negative space frames the instruments against the dark, shadowed interior of the pavilion. Subtle oxidation textures mark the bronze, while the glass edge holds a sharp, cool reflection of the warm light. One gong stands slightly taller than the others, anchoring the arrangement beside the others.
