Brick Kiln Mouth Heat Rising Through Fog
Hard white light slices across the rough red brickwork of the kiln mouth, contrasting sharply with the cool grey fog that swallows the lower yard. Thick steam billows outward from the dark aperture, merging with the heavy overcast sky to obscure the distant rail tracks. The ground is a mosaic of cracked concrete and scattered clay dust, glistening slightly under the diffuse light. Steel beams of the loading gantry stand rigid against the soft haze, their edges defined by the sharp shadows cast by the late morning sun breaking through the clouds.
