Salt mist hangs heavy in the pre-dawn air, catching the faint rim light that outlines the silhouette of a boy standing on a weathered wooden balcony. He leans forward, arm extended, releasing a crisp white paper airplane into the deep shadows below. The structure behind him features rustic railings and faded stucco, typical of a coastal Texas home near Austin. The sky above is a pale, bruised purple, while the sea spray glistens like suspended diamonds against the dark background. His posture is focused and still, frozen in the split second before the plane catches the updraft. The wet wood of the railing reflects the dim, cool light, at the base of the moment in a tangible, salty freshness.
