Molten copper light spills across a dry creek bed in Patiala, illuminating a weathered log bridging the shallow water. A boy stands balanced along the rough timber, his shadow stretching long and sharp against the dusty bank. The air shimmers with a visible heat haze that blurs the distant acacia trees. His posture remains steady, arms slightly extended for equilibrium. The log surface is bleached pale by the sun, against the dark, damp soil beneath. Dry grasses fringe the water's edge, swaying imperceptibly in the stillness. The light catches the texture of his clothing, highlighting the dust on his skin as he gazes intently at the water flowing beneath the wood.
