Banana Boat Loaded with Produce at Foggy River Dock
Deep shadow engulfs the wooden hull of a long banana boat moored beside a stone river dock. Piles of yellow bananas and green crates stack high against the dark wood, their surfaces catching a faint, cool rim light that cuts through the predawn darkness. Fine snowflakes drift slowly through the air, settling in white specks on the fruit and the wet stone piers. The harbor mouth ahead disappears into a thick, gray fog that swallows the horizon. Bare branches of late autumn trees line the distant bank, their skeletal forms barely visible through the mist. The water remains still and black, reflecting the faint glow of a distant streetlamp that struggles to penetrate the heavy cloud cover. One wooden cleat on the dock holds the mooring rope tight against the grain of the weathered timber.
