Balinese Melasti Ceremony in Yogyakarta Hall at Sunset

Dramatic monsoon clouds fill the high ceiling of a spacious ceremonial hall in Yogyakarta, their grey and violet tones illuminated by the last amber light of sunset. A wide panoramic view reveals the room's traditional wooden pillars and intricate carved lintels standing against the dimming sky. Groups of people in white ceremonial attire gather on the stone floor, their white sashes and head coverings catching the fading golden rays. Tall ceremonial poles with woven fabrics stand upright, their colors vibrant against the darkening interior. The light falls across the polished floor, creating long, soft shadows that stretch toward the entrance. A final beam of sunlight touches the edge of a brass bowl, highlighting its curved rim.
