Mist rests on the cobblestones of Gamla Stan as a bakery worker in a dark apron carries a heavy wooden tray of cooling bread rolls out the side door. The steam from the fresh pastries rises into the cold gray air, mingling with the fog. A small Löwchen, wearing a bright orange raincoat, sits patiently on the wet stones, watching the worker’s boots. In the background, the faint outlines of baroque facades and wrought-iron balconies fade into the white haze.
