Flat noon light bleaches the bright blue stucco facade of a small bakery in Oaxaca, casting sharp, geometric shadows across the entryway. A woven cane texture defines the top of a heavy wooden door, its intricate pattern against the smooth, sun-bleached wall beside it. On the concrete step, a faded door mat holds the faint impression of recent foot traffic. Inside the glass display case, visible through the open door, a stack of fresh tortillas rests on a wire rack, while a single flowerpot with a resilient geranium sits on a high shelf, its green leaves stark against the white interior.
