Bread Oven in Tunis at Midday Light

A sun-bleached stone oven dominates the corner of a dusty village square in Tunis, its curved dome casting a sharp shadow on the packed earth. A baker in a linen shirt leans against the heavy wooden door, fanning the embers with a woven palm leaf mat. Several round loaves of khobz rest on a rough wooden board nearby, their crusts cracked from the intense heat. The bright midday light highlights the texture of the ancient masonry and the worn stones of the square. In the background, white-washed walls and arched doorways define the neighborhood's architecture. A few clay pots sit near the entrance, holding water for the workers.
