A narrow, sun-drenched alley in Naples glows with late afternoon heat, where a wrinkled linen tablecloth spills over the edge of a small outdoor cafe table. A ginger cat sits perched on a wooden stool nearby, watching a local vendor arrange a stack of paperbacks on a metal bucket. The vendor’s hand, stained with ink, reaches for a book while a rusted cabinet latch on a nearby shutter catches the golden light. A pair of garden shears rests on the table, unused, next to a peeled lemon.
