Anti-Crepuscular Rays Night Sky Sheffield in through low marine fog near Sheffield

Anti-Crepuscular Rays Night Sky Sheffield

by Kristina Whitaker

Dense marine fog blankets the Sheffield landscape under a deep autumn night. Dark, heavy clouds dominate the sky, their undersides illuminated by a faint, diffuse ground glow. From the anti-solar point, faint anti-crepuscular rays fan outward, cutting through the mist with a subtle, silvery intensity. The light source remains hidden, casting long, geometric beams that contrast against the blackest parts of the sky. Low silhouettes of trees and distant structures emerge from the fog, their edges softened by the atmospheric haze. The rays appear as faint, vertical striations of brightness, disciplined and precise against the chaotic cloud formations. One, sharp beam of light ends abruptly against the dark silhouette of a hillside ridge.
