Amethyst Geode Macro on Lichen Bark Twilight

Cool blue twilight light illuminates the jagged interior of an amethyst geode resting on rough, lichen-covered bark. Deep violet crystal points rise in sharp clusters, their hexagonal faces catching the dim ambient glow while the surrounding stone remains in shadow. Fine dust particles hang suspended in narrow shafts of light, forming visible threads against the dark background. The mossy texture of the bark contrasts with the smooth, glassy surfaces of the quartz. Late spring leaves no frost, only the soft, organic green of the lichen growing on the wood. One ray of light catches the tip of the tallest crystal, highlighting its translucent edge.
