A hairless Xoloitzcuintli stands in profile against a weathered stucco wall in a quiet Belem courtyard. The animal's skin displays a complex map of dark spots and folds, catching the cool silver light of early morning. Raindrops bead on its smooth, leathery ears and the wet concrete floor below. The dog's muzzle is elongated with a sharp, dark nose, and its large, alert ears stand high on its head. One drop of water rests on the tip of its tail as it looks toward the edge of the frame. The background wall shows faint cracks and patches of peeling paint, at the base of the scene in a lived-in urban environment. The 28mm lens shows the texture of the skin and the dampness of the air without softening the details.
