Mist rests on the corrugated zinc roof of a small workshop in the Derb Sultan district, diffusing the pale dawn light into a soft, gray veil. Inside the open doorway, a cluttered workbench bears the marks of daily labor, where a hacksaw rests near a tangle of copper wire and a half-empty tin of grease. Soap streaks stain the adjacent white tiles, evidence of a quick wash before the day begins. One bulb planter sits on a windowsill, its leaves damp with condensation, while a wooden stool stands nearby, worn smooth by years of use.
